ABOUT ME

I'm obsessed with building software businesses actually run on.

From civil engineering to computer science

This is my story — told through the systems I've shipped.

The day I graduated

It started with a switch.

I began university in civil engineering — and walked away from it for computer science at Kenyatta University. In early 2020 I picked up the IBM Data Science Specialization and never looked back: by July 2021 I was freelancing, building financial modules with double-entry accounting for Taskplete and healthcare data dashboards for Biogex Pharmaceuticals.

Structures still fascinate me. I just build them out of data models now.

A day at the tea farm

Proof of scale came early.

In June 2022, still an undergraduate, I led the engineering team that won Phase 2 of the Equity Bank National Hackathon — an MVP platform managing 30,000+ scholars in the Equity Leadership Program. Later, a top-40 finish out of 165 African teams at the A2SV Generative AI Hackathon.

Those wins taught me the lesson I've built on since: real systems are judged by the load they carry, not the demo they give.

Founding Carasant Systems

From funnels to founding.

Running the full digital operation for Facacusub — website, course commerce, and funnels that generated 5,000+ leads — led to co-founding Miftah with the company's founder: a community platform that grew to 100+ active enterprise sub-communities within 30 days of launch.

In 2025 I founded Carasant Systems, my independent software practice. Every platform under it — the Vertex site-management system running 44 construction sites, Sakan's M-Pesa rent collection, Al Hadi's 11-program education platform, Alfanest's booking engine — was designed, built, deployed, and supported single-handedly.

Enterprise systems work and off hours in Nairobi

Enterprise by day.

Today I support enterprise systems at Kenya's National Syndemic Diseases Control Council — planning EDMS integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365 alongside executive stakeholders, and rebuilding the Council's national bulk SMS platform on .NET 8 with Azure AD single sign-on as its sole developer.

Off hours, I'm usually prototyping the next product, refining the systems that run my practice, on long Nairobi drives, or hunting down the city's best coffee.

Thanks for stopping by!

A.

EXPERIENCE

NSDCC

Digital Systems Management Support

04/2026 — Present

At Kenya's National Syndemic Diseases Control Council I work on EDMS–Dynamics 365 ERP integration planning with the CEO's office, Legal, and Procurement; I'm the sole developer of the Council's national bulk SMS platform (.NET 8 Blazor WebAssembly, Microsoft 365 / Azure AD SSO, maker-checker approvals); and I run corporate IT operations — Cisco Meraki appliances, Active Directory, and QA for the national Situation Room health-data dashboard.

Carasant

Founder & Systems Engineer

07/2025 — Present

My independent software practice. Each platform — Vertex's 44-site logistics and inventory system, Sakan's rental management SaaS, Al Hadi's education platform, Alfanest's short-stay booking system — designed, built, deployed, and supported single-handedly, from requirements and data modelling to production operations.

Miftah

Co-Founder & Full-Stack Engineer

08/2024 — 08/2025

Co-built a community infrastructure platform that grew to 100+ active enterprise sub-communities within 30 days of production launch — Stripe payment processing and OpenAI-based pipelines for automated content metadata.

Facacusub

Digital Systems & E-Commerce Lead

08/2024 — 07/2025

Owned the online education company's full digital operation: the main website, course-selling and payment flows, and a portfolio of marketing funnels that generated 5,000+ leads — plus Meta ad campaigns. The engagement led to co-founding Miftah with the company's founder.

Freelance

Full-Stack Consultant

07/2021 — 08/2024

Corporate financial modules with a double-entry, tamper-evident ledger for Taskplete (Flask, PostgreSQL); secure dashboards aggregating thousands of weekly healthcare field reports for Biogex Pharmaceuticals (React); and client websites across industries.

EDUCATION & HONOURS

Kenyatta University

BSc Computer Science — Second Class Honours (Upper Division)

2020 — 2024

GPA 3.55/4.0, graduated December 2024. Started in civil engineering before switching to computer science — the systems thinking stayed.

Winner — Equity Bank National Hackathon

Phase 2, June 2022 — led the engineering team behind an MVP managing 30,000+ scholars in the Equity Leadership Program, while still an undergraduate.

Semifinalist — A2SV Generative AI Hackathon

Top 40 of 165 continental African teams, for a localised automated financial-advisory tool.

IBM Data Science Specialization

2020 — advanced Python, SQL, and cloud analytics; the start of a self-directed engineering path.
